Mission:

The Center for Children with Autism at Orphan Welfare Organization (OWO) aims to help children with Autism to adapt to life and society by using up-to-date methods and specialized programs. The center designs individual plans that contribute to the development of skills and behaviors of those experiencing Autism.

Vision:

We look towards a time when we attain leadership in the comprehensive therapy of children with autism on all Lebanese territories by providing unmatched services and modern treatments; and for our center to become a leading center for research on Autism.

Objectives:

  • Work on the early detection of Autism and the determination of correct diagnosis.
  • Use specialized programs relevant to the abilities of every child.
  • Follow specialized individual plans that help provide the best and most unique services.
  • Establish strategies that help society accept children with Autism.
  • Work on the adjustment of the behaviors of the students and follow up on their psychological matters as well as that of their parents.
  • Integrate children who show potential capabilities into mainstream schools and work on the development of such capabilities.
  • Develop professional/artisanal work in conformity with the abilities and the needs of the child.
  • Develop the team capacities periodically in order to stay abreast of all new specialized programs on Autism.
  • Recruit students from different universities to carry out trainings, volunteering and internships at the center.

Services:

  • Offer comprehensive evaluation and free diagnoses for children upon application to OWS.
  • Offer academic follow-up and skills development including Early Intervention and rehabilitation classes.
  • Raise awareness and offer guidance and training on related matters to parents.
  • Design individual and academic plans specific to every child.
  • Conduct continuous evaluation for every child and follow up on his or her development.
  • Provide social and psychological follow-up to the students and their parents.
  • Conduct individual therapy sessions during the academic year (speech therapy, psychomotor therapy, etc).

 

Beneficiaries of the department:

    The services Center for Children with Autism are offers its services to 46 children with mild and moderate autism in Saida and its vicinity, between the ages of 2 and a half to 13.
